Bert Ruiz, Executive Director, STRIVE Houston

Bert Ruiz joins STRIVE as the Founding Houston Executive Director, bringing more than 25 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, organizational development, and talent management. Throughout his career, he has focused on strengthening mission-driven organizations, developing leaders, and expanding opportunities for individuals and communities. 

Bert began his career with the YMCA of Greater Houston, serving in several leadership positions, including Executive Director, where he oversaw operations, programs, staff development, and community partnerships. He later held national leadership roles with YMCA of the USA, supporting executive leadership transitions and initiatives focused on community health and well-being. 

More recently, Bert served as Managing Director of Impact Search Advisors by Nonprofit HR, leading executive recruitment and talent acquisition initiatives for nonprofit organizations nationwide. He subsequently founded Altura Talent Solutions, a consulting firm focused on executive search, recruitment, and helping organizations strengthen their workforce capabilities. 

Bert holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Houston and a Master of Science in Organizational Management and Leadership from Springfield College. He is bilingual in English and Spanish and actively engaged in civic and community leadership in Houston. 

Bert and his wife, Wendy, have two adult children and two dogs. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, spending time with family, and staying involved in his community.
